It was artificially difficult on account of its overlong length, rather than by its design. The very final segment of Half-Life 2: Episode 2 wasn't particularly fun for me, just because it went on for far too long. It's still one of the best realistic first-person shooters ever made, but it has its issues. The game's difficulty is just all over the place. I remember the opening segment of D-Day being kind of awful and the very last part of the game where you were running out of the factory as it was blowing up resulted in a high amount of save scumming out of me. Yeah, the snipers in that game are unbelievably annoying. Those are the most painful experiences for me. The fatass driver is an unfair chump who gets ahead of you with no traffic on his side, and has a stupid glitch where you can fall through a bridge and fail the mission. GTA Vice City: The Driver. If Gamefaqs has over a thousand articles explaining everything to get past this mission, you know it's going to suck. Doesn't hurt my love for the game though. It almost made me throw a reenactment of the Angry German Kid smashing his keyboard. Unless you use the shock rifle in that battle, you are screwed. Also, the final Tournament battle at Hyperblast 2, where it has expanded to the size of a cathedral. ![]() There would be many cheap moments where the A.I. Unreal Tournament 2004: The goddamn mothership mission. The Hunters would dodge the way out of my car ramming, and there are a lot of them.ĭaikatana: Episode one. Hope you like so much green and killing robo-frogs and robo-flies, along with weapons that can either kill you or waste ammo. Thanks John! Looks exciting, but feels like pure rage fuel. Half-Life 2: Episode 2: The final boss section in the forest. And the Strider bit outside the Overwatch Nexus during "Follow Freeman" Half-life 2: The goddamn vehicle sections. Half-Life: Opposing Force: Any parts involving the Race X aliens or the Black Ops. Looks beautiful, but terrible platforming. Red Alert 1: Any level that takes place in a indoor garage. Even on easy, it forces you through health and ammo count. This is the type of difficulty quality I'd expect in a Xatrix game. Medal of Honor: Allied Assault Breakthrough: Starves you of health and ammo through most parts. Medal of Honor: Allied Assault: Three words: Sniper's Last Stand. Prepare to scream out, "Who the fuck keeps shooting at me?" and "Where the fuck are they shooting from?", because of the cheap German snipers. Even after you beat that and go on the final mission, prepare to be pissed off at the Black Hole monster, dragging you every fucking time. Unreal 2: The Awakening: The penultimate mission has you and a couple other marines fight off a ridiculous number of Skaarj in giant power armor. ![]() And also, fuck that bomb defusal at the end of the game. Prepare to die in one hit by some Merc's carrying the rail driver, and rage if they hit you through the walls. Red Faction: Starts out good in the first and second half, then turns into a ridiculous marathon where the Ultor guards are replaced by the Masako Mercenaries, who deal more damage to you while being able to soak up ton of damage. I can't understand why people like the older Sonic games and hate the newer ones for poor quality. Sonic the Hedgehog 1-3: Everything feels terrible in the levels, essentially Sega throwing "Fuck you" death traps everywhere. Prepare to be endlessly pissed off at the sheer amount of Elite and Black Guards. After that, the whole game drops in quality around episode 4 or 5, where you have to fight bullshit cheap enemies like the Lopers and the Tesla Gun UberSoldat's. Return to Castle Wolfenstein: That fucking stealth forest mission in broad daylight. The looping music can drive you into insanity after a while. ![]() Wolfenstein 3D's E6M1: The definition of pure boredom and repetition, with that stupid early section with the hallway having tons of alcoves, and where if you don't step carefully, Officers will snipe you unfairly. What were the most frustrating video game levels for you? ![]() Sometimes, there would be an ounce of frustration sometimes when we play games we like, but sometimes it can be too much to handle.
